Just because we are back home, doesn’t mean we learned to hate being outdoors. Gluttons for punishment, I wanted to show you guys a few pictures as we headed for an overnight trip near the Mt. Laguna Area a couple weeks ago.

The plan was to just hike about 9 miles (1.5+ miles extra to hit Garnet peak) and camp at a spot I have seen time and again, but never actually stopped at…panoramic views of the Anza-Borrego, with Sunrise and Sunset views were the motivation. Some of these pictures will look familiar for those of you who read the early posts from our PCT hike, but even here, all seasons are different.

At the campsite, good choice.

Sun setting as we camp under the stars. The moon was like a spotlight all night, but this is an amazing place to sleep out in the open without a shelter.

At night it only got down to about 45 and was pleasant, even without the shelter being up. The next morning we both felt better, despite our time out here being so short and started to head back 7.5 miles to the car.

Heading out in the morning, 1 hour from San Diego.

We’ll be doing at least a trip a month until next spring, so stay tuned. Coming soon, future hike plans!
