After the sweatiest hiking of the trail to get 1 mile up a steep slope and sleep, we woke up and started hiking early to beat the heat and get to higher elevations. Smoke was present early and it will make pictures tough in some places for awhile as we are likely to be surrounded by forest fires through most of the rest of our journey. As is common on the trail, after starting at 5AM, by 6 we ran into a couple I hadn’t seen in over 1000 miles, Snow White and Wall Street who were just waking up to the sunrise on the mountain.

Bye California.

Smoke marred pictures for most of the day, but after a good night’s sleep following one of the toughest climbs on the PCT, we got a great shot in the morning pharmacieinde.com.

Last sunrise in California for awhile hopefully.

Oregon started with alot of promise.

We camped just shy of Ashland and planned to head in for the morning and spending a day resting for the arrival of a new band member the following day. The plan was to stay at a hiker friendly resort outside of Ashland, just off the trail, called Callahan’s. Great decision, but as anyone in my age group can attest, it was tough to ignore the name.
